DG Capital Group Introduces “Digital Grid Routers” in Sri Lanka with Support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
DG Capital Group Co., Ltd. (CEO Rikiya Abe, COO Masaru Shinkai), in collaboration with the Digital Grid Consortium (represented by Rikiya Abe) and NTT Data Institute of Management Consulting, Inc. (President Shigeki Yamaguchi), has installed two "Digital Grid Routers" featuring grid-forming technology at the "Digital Grid Research Lab" established at the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka on May 28, 2024. This installation follows research conducted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
At the Digital Grid Research Lab, the digital grid routers were directly connected to Sri Lanka's power grid, enabling various tests, such as load sharing and simulated short-circuit testing.
Looking ahead, DG Capital Group will conduct further experiments in collaboration with the Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) and the University of Moratuwa to advance grid-forming technology using digital grid routers, supporting Sri Lanka’s goal to increase the share of renewable energy in its power grid, particularly in the Greater Colombo area.
